Suggested brewing guide

Your everyday chai ritual.

Make a rich, milk-forward karak chai on the stovetop: heat the milk and water, add the loose blend, simmer, then strain. You’ll need a saucepan with room for the milk to rise, a measuring spoon, and a fine mesh tea strainer.

A starting recipe for one generous mug

Suggested starting measurements for a rich karak chai. Adjust the blend to your taste; the finished amount depends on how much liquid evaporates.

Brew the loose blend, then strain for a smooth cup.
  1. Heat the milk and water.

Add ½ cup (120 ml) water and 1 cup (240 ml) milk to a saucepan with plenty of headroom. Heat over medium-high until it reaches a gentle boil.

  2. Add the blend and sweetener.

Gently mix the pouch to redistribute the tea and spices. Add 1 level tablespoon (3 teaspoons) of Karak Chai Blend and sweetener to taste, if desired. Reduce the heat to medium-low.

  3. Simmer for about 5 minutes.

Keep the chai at a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, until it turns a rich caramel color. You can carefully scoop and pour it back within the pot with a ladle for a little froth. Watch the milk closely and lower the heat if it starts to rise.

  4. Strain into your mug.

Turn off the heat and pour through a fine mesh tea strainer to remove the tea leaves and spices. Taste, adjust the sweetness, and let it cool enough to sip.

Make it your own

Warm ritual. Cool twist.

Enjoy it hot.

Whole milk makes a fuller, creamier cup. Full-fat oat milk is another option; start with a little less blend if you prefer a milder flavor.

Pour it over ice.

For a richer iced chai, start with 1 cup (240 ml) milk and 1 level tablespoon of blend, leaving out the water. Follow the same gentle heating and simmering method. Strain, sweeten while warm if desired, let cool, then pour over a glass of ice.

Too weak? Try a little more blend next time or simmer a minute longer. Too bitter? Use less blend or shorten the simmer. If the milk rises, lower the heat and use a larger saucepan.
